there was a footballer. he had a right foot. and a left foot.

now, the relationship of the right foot and the left foot is vital; they are the footballer. the footballer can only play when both feet are working in tandem.

one day, the left foot sustained an injury after a robust challenge from an opponent in a match. try as the physiotherapist might, the pain in the left foot just wouldn't go. but the left foot kept quiet about it. the left foot wanted to complete the game, didn't want to let her team down, didn't want to let her team worry. and so the left foot played through the pain barrier, despite the probability of further aggravating her injury, forcing herself to ignore the pain. she managed to finish the game. barely.

after the game, the left foot went for a scan and it was realized that she had broken an ankle, and it was in fact a miracle that she managed to play on in the game. the doctor made it clear, in no uncertain terms, that till the left foot recoverd from her injury, she should not play football, or for the matter train. and so rest the left foot did. but broken ankles take a long time to heal.

but then came the big game. and the left foot was eager to be part of the action. after all, she did not hurt for the past few days already. returning to training, the coach instructed the left foot to declare any discomforts. the left foot began to hurt after a few sprints, but fearing that the coach would then refuse to allow her to participate in the big game, she kept silent.

no one knew about the clandestine discomfort of the left foot. except for the right foot. as the big game approached, and as he realized the amount of discomfort that the left was in, and as it dawned upon him that the left foot was going to risk everything by playing in this big game, he attempted to talk the left foot out of playing. however, it was ultimately the left foot's decision, the right foot cannot make it for her.

the right foot was not being kind or anything like that. he was being selfish. he was being extremely selfish; should the left foot be seriously injured, right foot himself will be destroyed as well. without the left foot, it is impossible to play run, let alone play football.

the left foot said that she'd listen to the right foot. but before the big game, she started to have second thoughts. she decided to take part in it, against the wishes of the doctor, her coach- and the right foot. she decided to take part in the game.

i know not of the ending of this story.

what would happen should serious injury cripple the left foot? what would happen to the right foot? what would happen to the football player? what would happen if the left foot manager to come out of the game unscathed? what would the right foot do? that the left foot ignored his dreams and took such a big gamble? what would the footballer do? that the left foot is willing to put it all on the line, disregarding the bright career that he might enjoy, all for a moment's pleasure?
