the children at work were twirling round and round and round today, you know, the way children do.
and so i watched, with interest and amusement as they spun on a spot, gaining momentum as they went, though eventually slowing down as they neared their threshold, laughing manically as they went, happy- as some would describe it- till their head hurt from the dizziness, till they were so disorientated that they couldn't stand up straight, let alone walk in a straight line, and they enjoyed their moment of euphoria despite it dissolving into nothingness quickly.
and it struck unto me that isn't this exactly what some of the older children do as well? except that the older ones don't spin round and round, no, they drink themselves silly, till they get "high".
perhaps we should just spin on a spot everytime we're thinking of getting "high"- legally of course- instead of heading to the bartender; it's much cheaper, and a much friendlier option to the liver.
but hell no, at least not for the older children, spinning in rounds just isn't 'cool' enough is it?
