i don't like painkillers.

i don't like painkillers because all they provide are but temporary relieve from pain. when the effects of the drug wears off, the pain will still be there, could be worst even. then you have to take even more of the painkillers in order to achieve the same results. in time, you'll become reliant on the drug.

now don't get me wrong, i'm no some masochist who delights in pain. no, i just believe in healing. i was extremely thankful for local anaesthetic when i extracted my teeth or i would have been in intolerable agony. nonetheless, i didn't bother with the dose of painkillers that was prescribed to me. same thing with my numerous injuries that suffered. i don't remember resorting to an analgesic to alleviate the pain. while i did turn to painkillers once or twice, but that was to get me through a game and not let the injury hamper my performance. i rub salt into my ulcers not because i get a high from the pain, but because it'll heal faster this way and thus, would bother me for a shorter period of time. furthermore, much as i dislike painkillers, i'm all for it's natural counterpart eg. endorphin. well i should, since i relish sports.

the wounds will still be there if you don't allow them to heal, instead choosing to numb your senses with painkillers. accordingly, i reckon the the most sensible way to remove the pain would be to allow the wounds to heal, painful though it will be. but of course, this is just me.

so there.
