i saw pirates of the caribbean: at world's end on thursday with my classmates. boy was it disappointing. while i never expected it to be anything like sipderman3 touching on darker topics, it still seem like a typical hollywood blockbuster, lots on the top, nothing beneath the spectacular CGI. i really think that it's the worst of the 3 pirates film...

first, spiderman3, thoroughly enjoyed it. very good action scences, fairly good pacing for a over 2 hours film and the ending really sums all the three films up nicely. furthermore, the film explored the good even in the supposed worst of criminals and the bad even in the best of heroes. no one is perfect indeed. sandman and his actions were a result of his love for his daughter as symbolized by the repeated scenes with him gazing at the locket with his daughter's picture even when he's robbing and killing. is it wrong then, to try and save his daughter's life? does the end justify the means? what then of peter parker who tried to kill sandman, and even his best friend, harry osborn, all for revenge? does that not make him worst than sandman? yet he's lauded as a hero throughout new york city. the power of religion, specifically christianity is depicted here as well, as spiderman facing his inner demons and finally ridding himself of the symbiote in a church, under the cross. yet it is also there that edie bock became venom. religion can bring both the best and worst of humanity perhaps? (think terrorism)

now on to pirates, what can i say? too much of a good thing gets bad. jack sparrow and his antics got on my nerves this time round as the producers seem to rely on johnny depp to try and pull the film through. didn't enjoy it as much as i did for the past 2 pirates film. thought that the film didn't all the hype and all the marketing. what a let down.

lets just hope that transformers will be good.
